FATE Magazine is the world’s leading magazine of the paranormal. Established in 1948, it has published expert opinions and personal experiences relating to UFOs, psychic abilities, ghosts and hauntings, cryptozoology, alternative medicine, and Fortean phenomena for a devoted readership worldwide. The debut issue of FATE hit newsstands in the Spring of that year. Co-founded by Ray Palmer and Curtis Fuller, the magazine’s lead story by Kenneth Arnold recounted in detail his now-famous UFO report of June, 1947. Arnold’s sighting marked the beginning of the modern UFO era, and his story propelled the fledgling FATE to national recognition.

In 1955, Curtis Fuller, Co-founder of FATE, assumed full control of the magazine, as Ray Palmer sold his interest in the venture. Under Fuller’s leadership, the magazine’s focus expanded, with a subscriber base topping 100,000. The Fuller family retained control of the magazine through 1988, when it was sold to Llewellyn Publications (now Llewellyn Worldwide).

In September 2001, former Llewellyn editor Phyllis Galde acquired FATE from Llewellyn via Galde Press, Inc.

In late 2018, FATE MAGAZINE LLC, a division of Counterbalance Group Inc., began the process of acquiring the assets of the magazine. The Company hopes to conclude the acquisition process in early 2020.
